The Lava Lounge

Sub-Brand Identity of Queen Jane Music Studios, Bar Menus & Environmental Graphics

Project Type
Role

Creative direction, visual identity, logo design, menu system, in-room graphics, copywriting, and web/social extensions

The Lava Lounge is the bar tucked inside Queen Jane Music Studios: a small, swanky, tiki-inspired hangout that needed to feel like its own destination while still belonging to the larger Queen Jane world. Unlike the main studio brand, this was a chance to build a distinct sub-brand from the logo out.

I created the Lava Lounge identity and extended it across menus, specialty cocktail graphics, coasters, apparel, web/social moments, and in-room details. The system needed to work as both branding and atmosphere: on the wall, on the table, in someone’s hand, and in the little details that make the space feel like a secret room inside the whole operation.

The Lava Lounge Logo

The Lava Lounge logo was designed to feel like something that belonged in the room: part lava lamp, part tiki mug, part handmade bar sign. I created full-color and one-color versions so the mark could move easily across menus, coasters, signage, apparel, and digital graphics without losing its personality.

The drink menu had to hold a lot of information without losing the Lava Lounge personality. I designed it as a fold-out system with bold section headers, illustrated ingredient moments, retro-tropical borders, and enough visual rhythm to make a long list of cocktails, mocktails, beer, wine, and spirits feel easy to explore. The menu was meant to work as both a practical ordering tool and a piece of the room’s atmosphere.

Coasters, T-shirts & Signage

I redesigned and expanded the Queen Jane website to make the studio’s offerings clearer and the brand personality more immediate. The site needed to explain several connected but distinct parts of the business (events, lessons, recording, rehearsal space, the performance room, and Lava Lounge) while still feeling like one cohesive world.
